Japanese Green Tea - Camellia Sinensis

Helps fight damage from excessive sun and environmental damage. Primarily this ancient Asian plant has the ability to prevent free radicals from damaging cell structure even further.


Wild Shiitake Mushroom - Lentinus Edodes

Rich in phytonutrients which includes vitamin D, selenium and B complex vitamins, that collectively helps to fight the effects of inflammation.

Shiitake mushroom also contains L-ergothioneine, an antioxidant that can help prevent cellular breakdown and encourages renewal, resulting in healthy elastin and collagen production.

Pea Protein - Pisum Sativum

A blend of proteins and amino acids that are easily absorbed in the skin (also potassium, silicon, and sulfur). A hydrating complex, offering a combination of moisture-balancing and film-forming properties which imparts a soothing feeling.

 

Bearberry Extract - Arctostaphylos Uva Ursi Leaf Extract

Bearberry extract is made from the leaves of the bearberry plant. It is commonly used as an astringent in cosmetic preparations and skin care products. It is also helpful in fading freckles or skin discoloration which may be caused by sun damage or hormonal conditions.

Bearberry extract is reputed to have antibacterial and antioxidant properties that may be beneficial for cleansing the skin and improving its appearance.

 

Hemp Seed Oil - Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil

Hemp seed oil has one of the highest antioxidant levels of any vegetable oil. High in omega‐3 and omega‐6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, hemp oil reduces skin dryness, itchiness, and transepidermal water loss. Hemp Seed Oil Contains 57% linoleic (LA) and 19% Linolenic (LNA) acids and antioxidants in the form of Vitamin E and carotene.

 

Rosehip Oil - Rosa canina fruit oil

Rosehip contains vitamin A which may help to reduce the appearance of sun damage and hyperpigmentation. It's vitamin A content also encourages skin cell turnover. It is also a good source of essential fatty acids to help in keeping the skin hydrated. The fatty acid and antioxidant composition is favorable for the reduction of fine lines and scars.

 

Sweet Almond Oil - Prunus amygdalus dulcis oil

Sweet Almond Oil contains vitamin E which protects healthy skin cells from destruction by free radicals. It also contains vitamin A and Zinc and is also a good source of Manganese. Manganese is an essential trace metal that is used by the skin as a supplement to help suppress irritation, blemished and premature ageing, aiding in the regeneration of the skin.

 

Oat Extract - Avena sativa

 

Oat has excellent anti-inflammatory, anti-itch and antioxidant properties. For centuries it has been used to soothe and protect inflamed, itchy, dry skin. It also has very good cleansing properties and helps to solubilize oil, dirt and sebaceous secretions.

As a result of it's high polysaccharide content, it can form a protective film on the skin, retarding water loss. This water retention activity aids in the maintenance of the epidermal barrier, keeping the skin moisturized.

Aloe Vera - Aloe barbadensis leaf extract

 

Aloe Vera has been around since the ancient Egyptians! It has been used topically to treat inflammation, sunburns and to help with the healing of skin wounds. It has very good anti-fungal and antibacterial properties. It naturally helps to keeps the skin hydrated, soothed and calm. It is great for after sun products!

 

Mango Butter - Mangifera indica seed butter

Mango butter is cold-pressed from the seeds of the mango fruit. Mango contains salicylic acid and antioxidants, which are known to protect from sun damage.

Most notably, vitamins C and E are in rich supply in mangos. A 2012 study suggests that, when combined, these two ingredients may provide some protection for your skin against environmental damage. Mango butter is great for softening, hydrating and conditioning the skin.

Cupuacu Butter - Theobroma grandiflorum seed butter

 

Cupuacu fruit is a member of the chocolate factory and is native to Northern Amazon. It is known as the plant-based alternative to lanolin, and often a substitute for Cocoa butter. Research shows Cupuacu butter is an excellent emollient that restores elasticity to the skin while providing anti-oxidants and hydration. 

It is considered a “super-moisturizer” because of its hydrophilic (water-loving) properties. As it carries water to the skin it makes skin supple, soft and more elastic.

 

Sea Buckthorn Oil - Hippophae rhamnoides fruit oil

 

Sea Buckthorn Oil is rich in antioxidants, unsaturated fat, vitamins E and K and carotenoids. When combined they all work to promote skin renewal and protect the skin’s integrity (source). It also contains palmitoleic acid, fatty acid naturally found in human skin that can be used to treat burns and promote wound healing (source).

Sea buckthorn oil also contains omega-6 fatty acids, which may help reduce eczema and improve acne (source). Research also shows it's phospholipid content may be helpful in protecting your skin from the damaging effects of UV rays from the sun.

 

Tamarind Seed Extract - Tamarindus indica seeds extract

  

Tamarind contains xyloglucan (polysaccharide) molecules that binds to water molecules within the body, keeping the skin cells hydrated. In doing this, it helps to maintain the skin's moisture and in the reduction of wrinkles.

Recent studies comparing tamarind extract to hyaluronic acid, showed that the tamarind outperformed the hyaluronic acid. Research have also shown that tamarind contains high levels of antioxidants which protect the cells within your body, helping to prevent the early external signs of ageing. 

 

Papaya Extract - Carica Extract

 

Papaya is rich in antioxidants, that may defend against the visible signs of aging. These antioxidants can help fight free radical damage which may help your skin remain smooth and youthful. Papaya contains enzymes, most notably papain, which helps rid the upper layer of the skin of dead cells while modulating the elastic fibers and collagen in the dermis. This makes the ingredient a good exfoliant.

 

Spirulina Extract - Spirulina Platensis Extract

  

Spirulina has high anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Spirulina contains 8 essential amino acids and is high in protein, which contributes to cell repair and growth.

Spirulina also contains gamma linolenic fatty acid which is known to decrease inflammation and promote the structural integrity of skin. That combined with being a rich source of antioxidants makes spirulina highly effective in the fight against free radicals.
